nave arcades. the church was demolished and rebuilt to a design of 1895 by the lancastrian firm of paley, austin and paley, completed in 1905 in runcorn stone and looking like a northern escapee. grand but dull, and a model of the old church kept inside makes one mourn the rebuild considerably.
