Yes, the ice-cream parlours in Scotland tend to be Italian, Dani. Cheers, Joe

That's because Italian ice-cream is the best of the world. And Italian migrants at the time were all ice-cream makers :-)

Lots of Italian ice-cream parlours here, Dani: Dino's of Helensburgh, Luca's of Musselburgh, Arcari's of Portobello, Visocchi's of Dundee... just to mention a few. The Arcari family claims to have invented the 99 (an ice cream cone with a chocolate flake). They chose this name, because at the time, the address of their ice-cream shop was 99 High Street, Portobello, Edinburgh. Cheers, Joe

There has to be had a time where many Italians came to Scotland or UK in the last hundred years. Many of them decided to produce ice-cream. You had great luck :-)

Yes, Dani, Italian ice cream is the best in the world. Last year, I attended an ice-cream lecture in Edinburgh. It was given by Owen Hazel, who is married to Nicola Jannetta, the fourth-generation of her family to run the ice-cream parlour in St Andrews, Amelia's hometown. Cheers, Joe

The lecture was very good, Dani. We got to taste a new flavour of ice cream, basil and oregano. I liked it, but my friend said she thought it was horrible. Cheers, Joe

I don't know, Joe, in the last time they seem to try to make ice cream with everything.

The ice-cream maker told us herb-flavoured ice cream will be the next big thing as he was already supplying hotels and restaurants. When we were in the audience at the ice-cream lecture we were asked if a herb-flavoured ice cream should be a starter or a dessert. The audience was divided on this. Cheers, Joe
