Group description how-to

Each language should become added on a separate language specific form provided on the group settings. Don't forget to save the changes!

This is my second attempt to explain how to provide separate description on multiple languages.

Moreover, notice that the title can be given in multiple languages as well. This is useful to make sure that the group will appear on the search results in case someone uses their own language to search for the groups. Try for example these searches:

On ipernity group guidelines it is also adviced not to use special characters on the group title (e.g. #, *, >> etc.). Some have used this to force their groups appear on top of the alphabetical 'Add to a group' list. But imagine this. If all would do the same, then it turns out as a futile attempt to stand out from the crowd.

Another, or additional, way to think about this is:

Enter translations through the Group Settings in ‘Name, description, roles’ under the Administration tab.

There one simply clicks on the (add) symbol next to the language name, and then enters the translation in the ‘Name’ and “Object of group’ fields.

Once entered, be sure to click the ‘Save these settings’ button and then one can click on the next language name.

[If you don’t see an (add) next to a language, that means a translation has already been entered. You can see, and modify, that translation by clicking on the language name itself.]

I'm Sorry but I'm not tech savvy but none of this is very clear to me, Group settings do not go far enough. Where does the leading sentence under "About this group" Originate?.

There is no need to make every group as presentable by providing separate translations. At ima team we mainly worried about the groups chosen and suggested to Explore Discover groups presentation:

www.ipernity.com/explore/group

If you wish to get one of your groups seen there, then I advice to join forces, and collaborate with someone who is tech savvy. Your comment also inspired me to write an article on this subject:

The best groups that I see here, and where I like to be a member, are somewhat all results of collaboration.

Oh, and forgot to reply to the question. I do not know what CR and his team was thinking, but on group front page the "About this group" is a pretty good box title. However, they should have used the same phrase also on group administration pages. It surely may take a moment to figure out that the "Describe your group" and then "Object of group" is the same as "About this group".

And without explaining in details, one may not figure out that it is possible to show all those in separate languages (the group name, the group object/about, and the group rules even, seen on separate section).
