Zao Wou-Kis künstlerisches Werk kreist um die Natur als Prinzip. Es geht ihm dabei weniger um die Abbildung der Gegenstände, als vielmehr um ihre malerische Durchdringung. An der Grenze zur Abstraktion verbindet er dabei östliche und westliche Maltraditionen.

Zao Wou-Ki's artistic oeuvre revolves around nature as a creative principle. He is less concerned with depicting objects than in penetrating their essence through painting. His paintings combine eastern and western painting traditions and tread the boundaries of abstraction.
