PiP 3: The "Froglamp"
As Froglamp were called mine lamps in metal, which at the beginning of the 16th century until then used lamps replaced clay. The name "frog" derives from its shape, which in plan view of a crouching frog remind. As fuel served in the first without cover manufactured lamps Unschlitt or beef tallow. In the later "closed", so lamps made with cover, fish oil or rapeseed oil was filled. Earlier, every village blacksmith made these lamps, serial production it brought u.a. the company Reusch in Daaden. Each mining district had its special lamp shape, so there was e.g. the Harzer the Freiberg or Westphalian frog.
