Harvest Safely Gathered In.

Harvest Safely Gathered In.
I say harvest, but only two apple trees in the garden. This is Cox's Orange Pippin and they have produced a bumper crop this year!

Frans Schols, Ulrich John, Joe, Son of the Rock, Jocelyne Villoing and 42 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thank you very much dear Günter. Yes they are from a tree in my garden. The other apple tree produces cooking apples. Very healthy and nothing as good as eating one straight from the tree :-)
Best wishes and a good day, Rosa.

Such a lovely shot Rosa...........the apples look really ripe and delicious. I love the blush of red on their skin!

My one and only apple tree is coming down this year, the crop has been getting smaller for years and this year we only got half a dozen apples and they weren't worth eating, so I've left them for the birds :-(
17 months ago.
Rosalyn Hilborne has replied to Keith Burton club
Thank you very much Keith. They are so crisp and sweet, and they store really well, as long as they are dry....a good job we got them in before today!!

That's a shame about your apple tree Keith, but at least the birds and insects will enjoy them.

Yumsville! They look delicious, Rosa. And two apple trees is better than no apples at all. Or perhaps better than a lemon tree? ;-) Well, I used to have a lemon tree in my backyard in California, they were good for lemonade :-)
Rosalyn Hilborne has replied to Edna Edenkoben club
Oh I would love a lemon tree Edna, but not worth trying in our climate. I also have a plumb tree which gave a lot of fruit this year, and a newish pear tree, so still waiting for a crop there. The fig tree was great this year but the birds got to the cherries before me!!
Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne
Oh, you have many delicious trees, Rosa. Plums, pears (I love them) and of course, cherries! I used to live in a building with lots of cherry trees in the front yard. The blossoms were so beautiful in the spring and then all the tasty cherries later... Too bad the birds got to them before you, so no cherry pie this year :-(
I'm not a big fan of figs though... what do you do with them? Fig pie?? ;-)
Rosalyn Hilborne has replied to Edna Edenkoben club
I usually eat the figs straight from the tree Edna, and they are nice for breakfast with Greek yogurt and honey :-)
Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne
OK, Rosa, you convinced me! But only with Greek yogurt and honey :-)

Gorgeous looking fruit, I take it you have given up storing them under the bed !! I have 3 types of cookers grafted on one tree it's not the best of ideas, I did put 4 vertical corders in but they have never done any good it's too late to bother trying again. I hope you have had a nice day Rosalyn Good night

different apple varieties, and my girls used to take them to school

trees were all gone :-(

A nice warm light makes these apples look even better.....but they certainly are!
I prefer apples with slightly green skin, which come from northern Italy, I don't know if they are there.

Rosalyn Hilborne has replied to ROL/Photo club
Your tree beats mine, which is just 10 years old. I think this has been the best year ever for them. Luckily our summer has not been too hot, except for just one week, and then the gentle rain, must have produced the perfect condition for growth. We once had an orchard with many old English varieties and my daughters used to take some to school for the teacher and friends :-)

Thank you so much for your kind comment on this picture and others.
Sunday greetings, Rosa.
