2007 Half-Moon Lakes Hike
Folder: Colorado Hikes
A hike to the Half-Moon Lakes below Mt. Massive
...And We Stumbled Upon A Blood-Curdling Scene of Horror
Well, not really...it's just a perfectly bleached and largely-intact elk skeleton.
The Big Waterfall
Just past the elk carcass we came across the waterfall that one can hear from a mile across the valley. Regrettably, I got a little carried away with the shutter speed -- all the images of this waterfall ended up with excessively motion-blurred water like this (which doesn't look all that bad in a smaller image, actually).
Bench
I'm not sure, but this may be one of the very large loaves of rock one sees from the staircase section of the SW Massive trail.
Slow Waterfall
Another overly long exposure of water. I do like the effect on the flow over the red boulder, though.
Bridge to Nowhere
Dead tree across a too-long-exposed creek near the treeline.
Meadow and Ridgeline
Along the west slopes of Mt. Massive. The summit of Massive is just out of frame to the right.
