The Wreath

The Wreath
The last thing to be put up on the roof is a wreath. The wreath symbolizes that the work crew has been treated well by the barn owner, through generous provision of food and drink during the day.

I was told that only once in recent times has a wreath not been placed at the end of a tåckarting. The owner decided that, instead of the usual dinner, he would kill and roast a sheep during the event. The workers were offended by the cultural inappropriateness of staging what amounted to a luau, and instead placed a broom on the roof as a symbol of their displeasure -- which was repeatedly replaced whenever the owner removed it.
