Is the new line a stand-alone system with driverless trains? Very flash looking.

The central section and the Abbey Wood line are new lines, but beyond Acton to the west and the line to Shenfield use parts of the existing network. The trains can be operated automatically but current practice is for all trains to be staffed with drivers. The thinking behind this is quite well outlined in this article londonist.com/london/transport/crossrail-elizabeth-line-drivers-driverless , which I hope is available to you on your side of the planet.

A great composition with the lights disappearing into the distance, it's good to see that the train and platform line up, some stations are a disgrace Lapworth is one of the worst I have been to

Thanks, Peter. It is all brand new, with a lot of 'designer' input, so I suppose it ought to look all of a piece.
