The ice makes noises as it gradually warms up - hence the video camera with a mike - I guess

The temperature wasn't that low - probably about 6 or 7 celsius. We haven't had any daytime temperatures around freezing point, in the south of England, since we had what was called The Beast from the East back at the start of the year. Near the ice was colder, but having set up his gear he didn't have to be too close.
