Neckinge swing bridge - Bermondsey - 9.7.2007

Looking for the photos of the barge with the cycle park, I came across this one of this odd little bridge. It is at the entrance to St.Saviour's Dock. One of the few remaining docks on the south side of the Thames. It is rarely used for mooring these days, so this little swing bridge doesn't get much use. It avoids quite a lengthy trek from the riverside, down to Jamaica Road and back, if one is following the Thames Path. The contrast between the cantilevered steel bridge and the surrounding timbers mirrors the contrast between the surrounding glossy loft apartments and their Victorian brick warehouse outer shells.
