Newhaven Fort 6in BL gun - 6.8.2009

Installed during WW1 the Fort's guns were not used for defence. They had a secondary role, backing up the examination vessels that checked the identities of all traffic into the port. If a vessel did not stop for examination, the Fort's guns were authorised to firing warning shots across their bows.
