I presume it's repairing its nest (I would think it's already too late in the season to start nest building!).
But let me know if i'm mistaken - of course I have no idea as to the nesting habits of mockingbirds.

Yes, Andy -- it is way too late for this feathered friend.

The only Mockingbird nest I've seen was beneath the mailbox carefully placed in the windings of our Clematis.
A very intricate piece of architecture - nothing like the Finches who seem to slap it together and are happy to use it for 3 broods!
