Not just the fence, but the rationale behind the need for the fence (though I can remember that in the 1960s and 70s there was nothing between the meadow and the edge and we just walked merrily along or ran about.) I like the contrasts. The ruin is Camber Castle near Winchelsea, built between 1512 and 1514. The windmills are obviously much newer. There's also the contrast between the bucolic foreground with sheep and the industrial distance. Not often I explain things, I know; and I don't really need to here, but ... It's also for Pam J because she tells me she misses England sometimes.
