IMG 2036-001-Oxford House Motto
Motto of Oxford House, Derbyshire Street, Bethnal Green -- Domi Mina Nus Tio Mea (The Lord is My Light). Oxford House was built in 1891-1892 as a "settlement house" in the empoverished community of Bethnal Green, London. Students from Keble College, Oxford University could live at Oxford House while undertaking volunteer work in the area. The students ran youth groups, provided legal assistance, and conducted adult education classes in the building and surrounding area. Oxford House continues to be a community centre though no longer associated with Keble College, Oxford. It is Grade II listed. www.oxfordhouse.org.uk/history
