I went there when it was totally dark.
I sat there for many hours (with a thermos filled with coffee :))
and I was perfectly happy there waiting for the sleepy lake to come awake.
One of the best times of my life.

Yes, back in my college days I used to photograph the Chicago lakefront at sunrise, so I can relate to what you say ... coffee and all .... especially in the freezing cold weather (looking back, I was nuts then)!
