Tang Dish in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, September 2010

Dish
Tang dynasty (618-907), late 7th-first half of the 8th century
Earthenware with impressed decoration under three-color (sancai) glaze
Accession # 1991.253.3
The shape of this three-legged dish can be found in Tang-dynasty silver. Its formal rosette medallion containing six palmette forms could well be derived from similar motifs on Central Asian metalwork and textiles.
Text from the Metropolitan Museum of Art label.
