Eros in the Walters Art Museum, September 2009

Eros
Creator: Greek (Sculptor)
Period: 3rd century BC (Hellenistic)
Medium: terracotta with white slip and traces of paint (Ceramics)
Accession Number: 48.2527
Measurements: 10 1/2 x 4 11/16 x 2 3/8 in. (26.7 x 12 x 6.1 cm)

The fluttering ends of the drapery and the thick white underpainting, or "slip," are recognizably South Italian. All Hellenistic terracotta figurines were gaily painted with bright colors, usually derived from plants.
