Keith, thank you ever so much for your wonderful comments on my pictures. Wow, do you make me feel great! It's important to me that you like my offerings, I just love to share our pictures together! That reminds me of when I was a kid and used to paint model horse figurines...I would finish one and immediately run upstairs to the kitchen to show my mom. She would lavish such compliments to me and pointed out all the aspects she really liked. You're just like that...and yeah, I sure do love finding out how you liked what I did! :)

Re: your comments on my metal detecting finds: yes, they really are fun photographic subjects, aren't they? And who doesn't love rusty-crusty macro pictures, right?! :D Of course, now I have literally hundreds of finds, though most are junk...even a pile of rusty nails would be a grand macro! I won't photograph everything but what I have taken pictures of has been so rewarding and fun. Glad you liked the processing too, it's wonderful to get the opportunity to play with the creative elements of photographic design. :)

I agree, it's a fun hobby to get into but it DOES take time away from our photography so I don't do it too much. One of these would be a perfect Christmas present for your grandson though, and this way you could enjoy the hobby with him and not spend every waking moment digging for treasures! :D It can be so addictive! BTW, if you think it's a good idea, I first got a Bounty Hunter, which is quite a nice metal detector. It's also not too pricey (compared to many others) and may be a good choice: www.amazon.com/Bounty-Hunter-Discovery-Metal-Detector/dp/B00123OUMI Anyway, something to think about. I really liked it--the reason I returned it was not because it didn't work well but that I wanted even more bells and whistles. Not necessary though!

About knolling...BRAND NEW CONCEPT to me! :D I have seen lots of pictures of this type of picture but I didn't know it was actually a THING! NEAT!! I could certainly get into creating some cool images along those lines, and thank you for the idea! It really would be the best way to share a day's finds as a whole! :)

Re: resin droplets: I was so excited to share these pictures, partly because I had such great luck with the results! You know how it is when you've discovered an awesome subject but you're JUST ABOUT to lose the light on it...I try to get pictures asap but I also tend to get a bit nervous and that adds to camera shake...and of course, did I get the right subjects? There's no time and...DARN! There goes the sun...better cross my fingers. Sometimes I get nothing but blur. I do love this Canon 5D MkIII so much because it does SO WELL in low light. I will wager that if I'd been using my MkII instead, my pictures would have been a wash. I just won't bother taking pictures in low light now because they are almost always garbage. High ISO just doesn't work out with macro, you know? So YAY that I got to use this fine camera!

Gosh, I'm surprised to learn that you've not seen these resin droplets before! You know, they are actually very common to find--but not like this. Single droplets, mini rivulets of sap--you can find them if you take a close look at the pine trees around you. And if you can find cut-down trees or of course, lopped-off branches, you'll certainly see some sap. Keep your eyes open for these trees whenever the sun is shining brightly. Often the sparkle of light through the resin will give them away! Sometimes it does us good to be without a car Keith. I always enjoy a train journey, but don't do it very often. Your picture is like a Constable painting! The sky is beautiful and the distant white house looks gorgeous....what a great location!

Good to leave the car in the Garage, sick or not, I often use the bus pass to get me to the forest.
Cracking shot here Keith, beautiful wide open sky. To live in one of those houses Mmmm!!! for a few weeks it would seem like a never ending fantastic holiday, after that things settle down to being normal.

Funnily enough, about 30 years ago I nearly bought a house next to this lovely pond, but at the time it was just out of my price range. I sometimes wish I had taken the risk and bought it :-)
