Wow, a brilliant capture, I never managed to catch one in flight! Did you use a tele converter?

Thanks Gudrun..................catching them in flight can be very frustrating and I generally get less "hits" than "misses". It's mostly a case of focusing where you think they might go and taking multiple shots. I did a lot of deleting :-))

I used a 40-150mm zoom lens with a 1.4 teleconverter which gives me a reach of around 210mm. (Around 420 in 35mm terms). This was taken at 210mm. The details show up on my page on the top right-hand side.

420mm equivalent is good:-) Since I have gone full format my tele is a bit short (70-200 with 1,4 converter-280mm() but a longer lens is just too heavy...

I'm much happier with the smaller Micro Four Thirds format of Olympus.......having the lighter kit has made me get out with the camera more too. I also have a Panasonic 100-300mm lens which is pretty good too. I'd really like the Olympus 300mm f4, but I'd have to sell a kidney to get that :-))
