Seems to me it's a Eastern gray squirrel. To be honest, I prefer the red squirrels. The grey squirrels are not at home here, but displace the red squirrels. - But the picture looks funny anyway. :-))

It is Frank............and here, it's considered an invasive species. It is blamed, in part, for the huge reduction in numbers of our native red squirrels which can only be seen in one or two parts of the country nowadays.

They are not liked my many people - but they're very photogenic - and it's not their fault someone introduced them to the UK :-)

This is then like here with us. The grey squirrels are imported from North America, as far as I know. The town of Eckernförde in northern Germany, for example, has the squirrel in its coat of arms. Because the population there is very threatened, people have started to breed these squirrels and then release them to the wild to counteract this.

Sometimes they're really feisty. I had a really poisonous snarl once in the woods. If I'd gotten any closer, I think it would jumped me.

They can be a nuisance................they get used to being fed by people and get aggressive when food is not forthcoming..!!
