Hummingbirds

Sight and Sound I was watching this little hummingbird drinking sap from our birch tree yesterday, all the while thinking "hummingbird don't fly away, fly away." I think it is an Anna's hummingbird but it was hard to tell its coloring from below. This little Rufous hummingbird made her nest near where we park our cars. My husband just happened to spot it. She is so sweet keeping her eggs warm. :)

Two hummingbird eggs!

Here's another one of her next to a salal bush. The leaves are about 4 inches long. Yesterday it was pouring down rain and windy. Today is warm and sunny. No matter what, she sits on her eggs. I read it takes anywhere from 13 to 22 days for them to hatch. I don't know how long ago she laid them, but I will keep checking each day for her babies. Don't worry, I won't touch anything.

Introducing 2 baby hummingbirds to the world. Momma is so proud.

You can see them beginning to take shape. They were really active today.

They are so cute! They were watching me take pictures of them. :)

I swear you can see them growing!
