Low tide, cold morning

Another picture of the cove under our house a week or two ago. The salt
water is hesitant to freeze in this somewhat mobile cove (though it will
freeze hard over where the water is more still than in this cove, for
instance just a kilometer or two away in a bigger but more sheltered
cove). But here a little fresh water dribbles down in a brook, floats on
the denser salt water, and starts to freeze over. First, it is just sishy,
the kind of slushy ice that makes a "sish" sound as it heaves, or as you
move through it. Then it starts to form chunky, slobs, the kind that will
bang against a boat with some noise and violence. Here, the slob ice is
starting to form. But it's still a sishy kind of slob.
