The Porch Project
February, 2009, in the snow: Our contractors built us a new porch.
Deporched
The contractor finally showed up yesterday....
Construction Zone
Personally, I think they're crazy. But I already can't wait 'til Spring.
Becoming Porchlike
This morning's view, showing the framing they built yesterday.
The contractors (sanely) stayed home on Wednesday, with the single-digit temperatures.
Nearly Done
Here's the view when we got home tonight. The really obvious gains are the railings, steps to the landing, and a ceiling on the porch. The guys were about to install a lot of trim, but it's too dark now to show that. Perhaps I'll catch it tomorrow....
What's left? Finish up the trim, siding on the front, a new overhead lamp "inside," & (I think) eaves troughs. Later we'll stain the deck and modify the (brick) sidewalk.
Spring's coming. I can feel it.
Steps
They don't, unfortunately, quite line up with the sidewalk. That will likely turn out to be a Spring project.
The New Porch
More or less complete, now. It still needs gutters (due today, I'm told) and a bit of electrical work.
Formal Portrait
Our new porch, from the road. Exteriors of Lansing built the porch (and, in other years, installed the windows, and the siding, and the roofing ). Good folks.
Finished
One last photo of our new porch. Now with gutters and lights.
The Planters and the Porch
A flower a day for January ....
