Crystal Lake, Wellston

Joan said "Find a cabin somewhere."
My first choices were on Lake Michigan, but I found those cost pretty much like hotels. So I thought a bit, and checked prices around Gaylord. Then I thought about Mesick. Which reminded me of Wellston. (Yes, all are Michigan towns.)
Lo and behold, in Wellston I found Northwoods Cabins. I'd stayed there before--for high school cross country (running) camp, in 1965 and 1966. Good memories, mostly, but old memories. I was surprised to find the resort still open, and open under the same name. Contacted Shelly, the hostess, and in the process of figuring out what dates were available she told me the XC camp had continued until a few years ago.
We found some agreeable dates, and Joan and I stayed on the edge of Wellston last week. Then went for a walk and found this lake, right downtown.
Somehow my Wellston memories didn't include a downtown lake. But here it is....
