The composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) regularly drank red wine at the Kameel. According to an 1820 order slip hand-written by Beethoven, he had the Kameel deliver to his house: two and a half litres of Austrian white wine, fine and regular sugar and the very best coffee… – without which, he said, he was not able to compose.
