Spiranthes ochroleuca (Yellow Ladies'-tresses orchid)

Early Saturday morning, Alan Cressler and Steve Bowling (both are friends of mine from Atlanta, Georgia) agreed to meet me for a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. This time of year, there is usually an explosion of beautiful wildflowers just before it begins turning cold for the winter.
And what a great show of wildflowers, it was! We managed to see all of the species I had planned on seeing with a few others thrown in for good measure.
I am so fortunate to live in an area where this botanical diversity is just a few hours away.
