One of the many road bridges on Dartmoor
There are only a few roads crossing Dartmoor and small bridges like this one were built to cross the small rivers. Having so few roads are very convenient, especially should a prisoner escape from the High Security Prison, because the police only have to close the roads at the edge of the moorland, and they are caught pretty quickly!!! That's always providing the prisoners have managed not to be trapped in the wet boglands which are all over the place!

Dartmoor Prison was purpose built in an isolated location. Even if a determined prisoner made it beyond the walls, he would still have to traverse teen miles on foot, over wild moorland and bogs, an area frequently beset with fog and chilling winds, to reach the nearest town.

Oui, je l'ai dépassé plusieurs fois et je sais que si un prisonnier réussit à s'échapper, il pourrait succomber aux tourbières marécageuses et ne jamais être retrouvé, ou s'il avait des amis qui pourraient l'aider, ils ne pourraient pas passer le la police des frontières sur les routes étant arrêtées, le brouillard de la lande a également tendance à apparaître soudainement et ils pourraient alors se perdre - revenons à faire attention aux tourbières marécageuses !!!!
