Avec ses 6500 vitraux et ses murs en béton, l’église Saint-Joseph est un phare au cœur de la ville. Elle fut érigée en mémoire des victimes des bombardements de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Visible à plus de 60 km au large par beau temps grâce à ses 107 mètres de hauteur, la tour-lanterne octogonale fait corps avec sa base carrée qui réunit nef et chœur. Ce chef-d’œuvre de l’architecture du 20ème siècle vous coupera le souffle par sa beauté incroyable.

Petite précision, cette église a été construite entièrement en béton par Auguste Perret architecte à qui l'on doit la reconstruction du Havre. Notamment le centre ville aujourd'hui classé au patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco. Autrefois décrié, ce centre ville entièrement bétonné déplace désormais les foules venues du monde entier.

Diese Kirche wurde nach der umfassenden Zerstörung des Zweiten Weltkriegs gebaut.
Die Architektur ist in der Tat untypisch und meiner Meinung nach wirklich ein Erfolg!
Der Architekt ist Auguste Perret.
