oops.

I was mulching leaves with the lawnmower and caught movement out of the corner of my eye. Imagine my surprise to find a wayward woodcock had flown into my fenced yard and couldn't figure out how to escape! A bit of gentle herding and it finally flew up and over the fence. This is one of my favorite birds; it's a welcomed harbinger of spring. Hopefully this little bird will be back after the snows melt to forage in my leaves again.
