Birds of a Feather

I believe these are Red Shouldered Hawks. This was just after they declared their undying love for one another. I think this pair has been nesting around my pasture for the past three years or so; I see them every spring. She's a little more reddish, and he's a little more grey. He loves sitting on the fence poles. These birds mate for life, so I hope they'll stay for many years to come.

Make no bones about it, these magnificent sky kings are my favorites. When they return, spring is nigh.

A hawk takes advantage of the easy pickings at the bird feeders during a winter storm. Fortunately for the birds, it was an unsuccessful hunt.

This little chickadee was hiding in plain sight after the hawk swooped in to try to catch a meal.

My greens once again provide shelter for the juncos during a storm.

Mourning doves take shelter behind the old run-in during the height of the nor'easter.
