Ron, I must tell you one small secret concerning that wall:

This country has had only two borders from 1143 year of its founding.

One land frontier 1214 kilometres long with Spain,(north and East) and/or its predecessors.
A sea frontier of 1794 kilometres with the Atlantic Ocean ( South and West).

Because one invasion by our big neighbour was always a possibility, there were built along the border 52 castles/fortresses ( I am not counting with all the others inland, just in case…) which makes a fortress and/or castle every 22.48 km of border…

The wall you see behind is, one of those "barriers" in time of need.
