My chief concerns (apart from Cancer and the environment) are about mass immigration, defense and law and order, but these aren't mentioned.

"The People" is evocative of National Socialism, Communism and the French Revolution, all of which promised freedom, free speech and critical thinking but engendered regimes which provided anything but.
