The mobile phone is very handy for a quick snap. Do you not have one?
I've heard they're also useful for making phone calls, though I haven't tried it myself.

Yes, I've had an iPhone 8 for nearly 4 years, and use it when I haven't brought a camera. Although it can't capture as much detail as a digital camera proper, and lacks any sort of telephoto capability, the results are surprisingly good.

I use it mainly as an internet browser, an alarm clock, a notebook/diary, a payment card and above all as a navigation device - without the OS Maps app, which I use all the time, on my walks I'd be lost 90% of the time. For those things alone, to me it's worth every penny. And when away I use it to monitor my house alarm and CCTV cameras and to shop in Amazon Fresh.

And on odd occasions I do make or receive a 'phone call or text message. When I was in hospital for 3 months in 2019, it was my sole means of communication with the outside world.
