how does something so small stay warm laying on the ice?
I know at this time of year the sun does have a little heat in it, but they are 'wet'

Thanks Wendi! Ducks and Geese are made for the cold weather! Their feathers are oiled to keep them dry. They stay out on the ice so that it's a problem for the predators to get to them.

Beautiful capture, Norm! I wanted so bad to get a shot of a duck or two on the icy pond and name it "Walking on Water", lol!

Thanks Valerie! Sounds like a good title for that photo! :-) These are actually walking around on the White River and the photo was taken from a bridge above them. There were a few out swimming around in the water besides the group resting on the ice.

I thought it might be a project to keep Wendi busy! :-)

I saw Mallards On Ice. It was much better than Disney On Ice! : ]

The ice truck is cool too (literally) but won't last long when the road is salted.
I guess you can just freeze up another body for it but driving it to Phoenix would be a bad idea. ; )

I guess they would have to use dry ice in Phoenix? :-)
