I like this picture very much!
It is a very interesting composition
I came here a couple of years ago looking for fossils, but I don't remember this long breakwater..
We found a nice big one, but left it there! www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/52140722

A very impressive looking pile of rocks Roger...........full of interesting shapes and textures and captured in super detail. Viewed large, the buoys and the red marker post add some more interest.

A cracking view off the end of the rocks too........and some lovely sunshine, which I've not seen for a while :-)

Nice done sir..!!

Thank you, Keith, My Geology skills have lapsed over the years, but It is I guess a type of granite, I have seen waves crashing over them without and adverse effect so they must be locked together well!
Keith Burton club has replied to Roger (Grisly) club
There has been a massive re-build of the sea defences in Portsmouth over the past couple of years (which is still ongoing). Apparently a lot of of the granite rocks used have been imported from Norway, as they have more mass than others of the same size and are therefore heavier.

I am fascinated by breakwaters, Rog. In my more agile days with perfect balance and foolhardiness, I used to love leaping along them. Probably break a leg now! Fabulous textures.
