All the ruins of Dunscaith Castle that remain are on this small island in Tokavaig Bay on the coast of the Isle of Skye,and has the rugged shapes of the Cuillins as a backdrop,
With the original name of Dun Scaich it was a 14th century stone enclosure fortress, In the early 15th century, the castle was the principal seat of the Macdonalds of Sleat but after a rebellion in 1431 it was occupied by the forces of King James I. and was finally abandoned in the early 17th century,
