Top view of the the co-ax connection point. Years ago my TV antenna was performing poorly so I took it down to check. I found it had a printed circuit adapter, AKA balun, to interface the antenna's balanced dipole element to co-ax cable. I found a printed circuit inductor was open circuit. This was replaced by a thin insulated wire. When reinstalled it work much better. October 2012.

GrahamH club has replied to Frans Schols clubThere is no cable TV in my city, it's only in the major coastal cities. Pay TV is delivered by satellite here. Australia's low population density outside of the state capitals has made satellite a more economical method. We don't have it as TV isn't very important to us. Increasingly TV and movies are delivered by the internet. This improved for many by the Government creating a national internetwork. This is delivered by fibre, fibre to node with copper for local connection or radio. I've just got a fibre connection to replace my ADSL.
