In 2009.

Lily's closed during the pandemic and is now closed permanently; nothing has replaced it. Prom Art became a game store and that closed; the storefront is now empty. The upside-down sign is now blank, and the space below it, which looks much the same today, seems now to be an apartment.

A nice example of urban decay.............sadly, all too common in our towns and cities nowadays.

The Chinese smorgasbord is why I remember Lily's from my childhood, Keith. They still have the curtains uo there, but the smorgasbord sign has disappeared -- it'll probably show up on Antiques Roadshow soon as a highly desirable collectible.

I try to record the changing face of our town's shops, mainly to keep the grandchildren, who are now in Scotland, updated on their old haunts. Most of our shops are occupied and looking good, but one parade is derelict with wrangles over its future between the local authorities and the owners on-going.

I took up photography, Phil, for much the same reason. I wanted to document the main street in my part of Toronto. I found lots of old photos on the Toronto Archives' website, and was able to make comparisons over more than a hundred years. So I think what you're doing could end up being pretty revealing. Good luck with it.
