John FitzGerald club has replied to William Sutherland clubWe cannot see the height of the tower except through wires? Like we cannot see the Mona Lisa through all of the off-color reproductions of it that get in the way?
Okay, soon time to take a vacation from ipernity..
John FitzGerald club has replied to rdhinmn clubSpeaking of off-colour reproductions, I was impressed by a reproduction I had of Ingres' portrait of Madame Moitessier. Then when I finally saw the painting I found the colours were very different. Still impressive, but I felt as if I had stumbled into an alternate reality. Similarly, I admire William Eggleston's photographs, but I have never seen one of his prints, which I gather are more highly coloured than their reproductions. But then it's his composition I like.

I couldn't do it nowadays though. I still think it's a stunning building..!!
