Der Mont Ventoux ist Teil eines Kalksteinplateaus, das sich in West-Ost-Richtung nordöstlich von Avignon erhebt. An der sanft ansteigenden Südseite des 1909m hohen Gipfel zeichnet sich oberhalb der Baumgrenze der markante Riff-Kalkstein ab. Am Fuße des Mont Ventoux befindet sich das bekannte Weinanbaugebiet Côtes du Ventoux.

Ja, das ist mir bekannt. Meine erste Bezwingung des Berges habe ich zu Fuß gemacht. Ich konnte mir nicht vorstellen, dass man dort mit dem Auto hoch fahren kann. Ich habe den Wanderweg von Saint-Estéve aus gewählt. Mittlerweile war ich mehrere Mal mit Auto oder Motorrad auf dem Berg.
