Die massive Brücke über die Zwickauer Mulde wurde 1845 aus Rochlitzer Porphyr erbaut. Das Material dafür kam aus den Steinbrüchen auf dem Rochlitzer Berg der in unmittelbarer Nähe nördlich der Brücke zu finden ist.
