Kasteel Ammersoyen (Ammersoyen Castle) is considered being one of the best preserved medieval castles in the Netherlands. The typical Dutch moated castle has four round corner towers, a fortified bailey and is encircled by a moat. The castle was built around 1350 along the river Maas. The river was redirected a short time later, but the castle remained surrounded by water. With its square design and four corner towers, the castle is a good example of the type of castle introduced by Count Floris V of Holland. The castle had many owners until it was severely damaged by a fire in 1590 and it took a long time to repair the damage. In the year of 1667 the “Van Arkel” family restored the castle to its medieval state. Two hundred years later Kasteel Ammersoyen became a convent for the Order of Saint Clare. The moat was filled in and an adjoining chapel was built. During World War II - between 1944 and 1945 - the castle suffered severe damage. The nuns left and the castle came into the possession of the Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen (a Dutch nature and heritage foundation). Restoration work - which took 16 years - has brought back the castle to its former medieval glory.

SC134 - Post 16 February - Photographing in the style of your favorite artist. Je n'ai pas d'artiste de prédilection, en photographie tout du moins. J'avais eu l'occasion de voir quelques photos de Vivian Maier* : je suis donc allée lire sur Internet ce qui la concernait et regarder quelques uns de ses clichés; j'ai porté mon choix sur cette dernière, car c'est une femme. Vivian Maier fait polémique dans le sens où ce qui est publié de son travail, est une sélection à posteriori, sans qu'elle ait pu participé, ni au choix des négatifs, ni à leur développement. J'ai constaté qu'elle avait réalisé de très nombreux autoportraits, d'innombrables photos de rues : toutes les images que j'ai vues, montraient un soin particulier au cadrage, à la lumière, à sa capacité à saisir l'opportunité... * fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Maier Il y a longtemps que je n'avais réalisé des scènes de rue, et ce n'est pas mon exercice favori. Je suis donc partie me promener avec en mémoire 4 impératifs : la scène de rue, et l'autoportrait (sujet que je trouve ludique), le carré préréglé sur le FUJI pour le SC, et le contre-jour pour le SS-C d'Ingo. Sur cette photo, je préparais mes réglages lumières et mon cadrage, lorsque j'ai entendu ces 2 grands gaillards rire du texte affiché sur chacun des côtés du miroir "VOUS ÊTES GAVE BEAU"; j'ai déclenché aussitôt... j'ai capté les 2 loustics... mais mon autoportrait est sur le vif...loin d'être apprêté comme ceux de Vivian Maier. En 1° PIP, une seconde photo, faite quelques instants plus tard, que j'ai retenue, à cause du nuage émis par la vapoteuse. A mon retour, j'ai trié ma récolte, recadrées mes photos, car très lourdes, et passé la couleur au noir/blanc. Concours de circonstance cette photo convenait également au SC d'Ingo (contre-jour), auquel j'ai réservé une autre prise. Quant à ma main droite : fatiguée...

SC134 - Photographing in the style of your favorite artist. I don't have a favourite artist, I like many different artists for different reasons, e.g. Mark Rothko , a painter related to the abstract expressionists. His later paintings are a kind of meditation pictures. The paintings are divided into different abstract fields of colour, which interact with each other.
