Outstanding in his field

Collin Street Bakery Farm (Corsicana) is the largest organic golden pineapple farm in Costa Rica and is Fair Trade Certified. A worker dressed in thick clothing to protect him from the sharp spines of the pineapple foliage walks in the field looking for ripened pineapples. Beyond the pineapple field is the papaya field. The fields are ringed by trees which provide shelter for migrating birds. AxMG_1886

Pineapple bath

Collin Street Bakery Farm (Corsicana) is the largest organic golden pineapple farm in Costa Rica and is Fair Trade Certified. After the pineapples are picked, they are washed and sorted. Those pineapples that are not aethetically pleasing, such as this one in which the foliage is too small for the body, are separated and sent to the canning factory. ODT: Liquid AxMG_1891

Hidden beauty

A lone pineapple is hidden in the leaves at the Collin Street Bakery Farm in Costa Rica. Commercial farms induce pineapples to bloom at the same time by exposing them to ethylene gas but sometimes, a pineapple will fruit on its own. AxMG_1884

Attention

Blue-gray tanager and Crimson collared tanager in the Sarapiqui rainforest in Costa Rica. This photograph is not as sharp as I would have liked, but the birds were beautiful. AxMG_1850
