Well, I for one feel safer

As part of the mindless seizure of control at all levels of government following the atrocity of September 11, 2001, there is this. The courthouse doors are doors no more; now people who have business there nust come in, ratlike, under the steps at the side. That's because that's where the metal detectors are. Of course, this is in furtherance of nothing worth doing, in that if we were interested in mid-Eastern bombers, that's who we'd look at instead of everybody. But that might hurt their feelings. We live in a very strange world.
