Monday 2 June 1997 (approx. 1450) – Trathens of Plymouth was one of the small number of contractors that operated double deck coaches on National Express services. L977 KDT was a Van Hool T8 Astrobel bodied Volvo B12 seen here at Milton Keynes Coachway when working the 1400 National Express service 540 from London (Victoria) to Rochdale. Trathens operating diagrams involved inter-working these vehicles on West Country-London services and London-North West services. A crew of three was on board, a stewardess and driver based in Plymouth and a driver based in Rochdale.
