The Oystercatchers return...

Laid with their usual attention to camouflage on the bark and woodchip-strewn steps leading up to the hillock at the end of the pond, they have been laying here for nine years now, usually within ten yards of the same spot...the young chicks have absolutely no smell, and are superbly camouflaged so survive roaming foxes badgers and assorted hawks on the lookout for lunch.
