St Pierre was built in the 19th century, after the old church had been destroyed - except the St Eutrope tower which is an ancient pilgrim's place: once it held a statue of St Eutrope, a 3rd century bishop who had the power to cure all ills. Pilgrims used to take away with them a handful of earth gathered near the tower. This earth, if applied to the invalid, then carefully returned to the foot of the tower into the safekeeping of St Eutrope, was said to sooth all pains...
