A Glimpse Of The Past

A Glimpse Of The Past
Kilchurn Castle. Loch Awe.
Built around 1440 by Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy, the castle later became the scene of a bloody feud between the Campbells and the MacGregors, who had been the appointed keepers.
It was garrisoned by the government during both the 1st and 2nd Jacobite rebellions in 1715 and 1745. The Campbells abandoned Kilchurn in 1740 and it was struck by lightning in 1769, thereafter falling into disrepair

Thank you very much Skipper. We would have liked to get closer but the ground was very marshy. Have a lovely weekend

Stunning landscape with the old castle ruins. Probably spooky looing during a night with full moon;-)

Very well composed shot Carol, with a nice hint of autumn colours. Thanks for the history of the castle, worth reading.

Best regards, Doug
