Doug Shepherd club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew clubThe fair was started in 1253 by Royal Charter and at that time lasted 45 days!! The fair was last held in 1788, so no I have not been to Scarborough Fair;-))
Although the traditional "Scarborough Fair" no longer exists, a number of low-key celebrations take place every September to mark the original event. Scarborough Fair in July 2006, which has colloquially become known in the community as "Scabz Faz", witnessed medieval jousting competitions hosted by English Heritage in addition to the usual attractions.
